Art? Art! Art… An Audience Development Handbook for Public Art Galleries and Museums is a practical guide written by Dr. Jane Deeth and Tracey Cockburn. Designed for visual arts professionals in regional Australia, it provides actionable strategies to expand viewers’ experiences and confidence in engaging with contemporary art.

The handbook focuses on “active listening” to help institutions validate audience responses—whether positive or negative—as a first step toward understanding challenging or unfamiliar artwork

The project is an initiative of The Rosny Farm Arts Centre, in Tasmania, the cultural precinct owned and operated by Clarence City Council with funding supplemented by an Artist and Curator Residency Grant supported by the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund and Museums & Galleries of New South Wales.
