Silent Tears: women, disability and violence

The Silent Tears multimedia exhibition that reveals the lived-experience of women with disability who are subjected to violence and women who acquired disability as a result of violence. The complexities of the issues surrounding women with disability and violence cannot be resolved until the reasons surrounding the violence are heard, and these can only be told by those who experience it.

The power of this exhibition, lies in the hands of the participants who have collaborated as protagonists with the four artists to share their stories of domestic violence, forced sterilisation, psychological trauma, female genital mutilation, neglect and sexual abuse within institutions or by family members. Audiences can expect to experience a deeper understanding of the diversity of violence, discrimination and survival.
